THE ART COLLECTION LAUNCHED IN CAMBRIDGESHIRE

"A unique CD bringing the Cambridgeshire Art Collection to life"

The Art Collection is a highly acclaimed joint project between Cambridgeshire Advisory Service - part of Cambridgeshire County Council and J9 Solutions (UK) Limited. The product is a unique CD which captures the Cambridgeshire Art Collection and presents it as a learning resource for schools and colleges countywide.

The software showcases 450 paintings, sculptures and related photographs for regional and national artists. Photographs of local scenes today, which compare, side by side with related artwork - bring the collection alive.

The launch will be held on Thursday 23rd October 2003 at Cromwell Park School in Huntingdon at 4pm. 100 teachers, councillors, department heads and related parties are expected to attend.

County Council Director of Education, Libraries and Heritage Andrew Baxter will open proceedings with an introduction, followed by Jonathan Bowman - director of J9 Solutions (UK) Ltd and creator of The Art Collection software - who will give a detailed presentation of the software. There will also be an opportunity to see the software in action with pupils from Cromwell Park and for school representatives to purchase on the evening. Keith Grimwade - Head of Cambridgeshire Advisory Service - will close proceedings.

Until now this resource has been virtually inaccessible to schools and colleges, but now for the first time, The Art Collection software will unlock this treasure trove of material direct to the desktop for both students and teachers."
